ABOUT THE LUNGTA HUMANITARIAN ASSOCIATION

Our objective
Developing generosity and allowing others to live with dignity, this is aim of ALH.

Our strategy
We define the needs of the populations with them, we do not impose our way of thinking.
ALH intervenes on a human scale in favor of the local population of the Himalayan chain in northern India (Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh) and in Nepal where living conditions are particularly difficult (see country file).
We work in the spirit of our ethical charter .

General interest

The Lungta Humanitarian Association has set itself the goal of helping the needy populations of the Himalayas.

ALH is a french association law 1901, it registered its project in a dimension of general interest, by opening to all the public, in particular the most fragile, by preserving to its activities a non-profit, non-discriminatory and apolitical character .

“Humanitarian organizations have an activity which consists in rescuing people in distress and misery by helping them with their essential needs and by promoting their integration and social advancement. This includes activities which aim to provide these people with material assistance (food or housing, for example), give them the training elements essential for their social integration (literacy, for example), provide them with moral support and all the information useful in their situation. The volunteer team

The ALH team, entirely voluntary, regularly visits these regions to set up projects and monitor them in partnership with local players in order to best meet the needs of the field and build relationships of trust.

ALH helps families, communities and people in Nepal and the Indian Himalayas (particularly in Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh) to overcome the many handicaps linked to isolation (lifestyle in mountainous areas, deterioration of living conditions, earthquake in Nepal in 2015) and impoverishment.

Ladakh and Nepal are among the poorest countries in the world. In Ladakh, the average annual income per person is around 160 dollars, in Nepal 360 dollars. Given their fragile economic situations, meeting the most basic daily needs can be difficult or even impossible. This is why ALH tries first and foremost to respond to the problems of food, education and health.

The Ethical Charter

The Lungta Humanitarian Association seeks to do its best to develop generosity and thus allow the Himalayan populations, from northern India (Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh) and Nepal, to live with dignity.

Our priorities are to help these populations to access the fundamental rights which are:

  • Education by participating in the financing of studies and the development of local schools in order to improve the level of literacy;

  • Health by engaging alongside those who wish to develop infrastructure, support traditional medicine and help those in need of specific care, even in the most remote places.

  • Basic needs such as food and clothing by helping with food projects.

Lungta is the name given to the colorful flags that fly in the wind in Buddhist countries.

It is said that the altruistic prayers which are printed on it are carried away thanks to the wind which spreads the blessings.
